Bioarchéologies-Le Blog is a research blog hosted by Hypothèses, a platform for humanities and social sciences scientific blogging provided by the OpenEdition.

Bioarchéologies-Le Blog is run by the French community of bioarchaeologists (FRA Bioarcheologie https://bioarcheodat.hypotheses.org/)

Research in bioarchaeology produces original data sets, case studies, and even scenarios that can help explain current patterns, understand long-term processes, and contextualise the global changes facing our societies.

The blog is intended to showcase researchers’ work and findings, their publications, and the various events they participate in. It aims to stimulate debate and exchange ideas through short articles written by the researchers, providing easily accessible scientific information to our community, the general public, and other scientific communities. It also allows for disseminating notes on topics and content that are more difficult to find in other media due to their status and/or format (marginal data, appendices, ad hoc information).

Bioarchéologies accepts unpublished texts on current scientific topics relating to:

  • The study of animal and human bones, plants, and soils at various spatial and temporal scales since the Palaeolithic (Pleistocene and Holocene). It includes the disciplines of archaeozoology and archaeobotany. It may also incorporate geoarchaeological and micromorphological approaches;
  • on methodological developments: comparative anatomy, geometric morphometry, biomolecular and biogeochemical approaches;
  • on the establishment of reference frameworks: collections, experimental work;
  • on field activities (prospecting, ongoing excavations, etc.) and presentation of programs;
  • on field surveys and/or archival studies: techniques, farming methods, agroforestry, biodiversity, etc.
  • on databases;
  • on open access tools: websites, R scripts, software, document collections, etc.
  • on historiographical approaches;
  • on legal, ethical, management, and accessibility issues (FAIR) relating to data and collections.
